Twitter is all abuzz about Ron Hudson’s list of the 50 most powerful and influential women in social media. I encourage you to read his post and leave a comment, if you have something to add to the conversation. In his post he cites his criteria for choosing the 50 finalists. It was his idea, so he made the rules.
Being powerful and influential does not make you a thought leader, at least the way I see it. Some of the most brilliant and creative people online today, both male and female, would not have made the cut using his criteria. It is all in what you are searching for online. So, even though it is fun to see your name in print, make sure you are doing exactly what you want to achieve success on the internet. That is the beauty of buiding an online empire.
By the way, if your name is not there and you are interested in this type of recognition, challenge yourself to improve in the areas Ron Hudson discusses in his post. We can all improve our online statistics, so rise to the occasion and get moving. Research more, write more, and be part of the conversation. There will most likely be another list of this type in the near future. For now, congratulations to the top 50. They have all worked hard and deserve this recognition.
