Blogging and online writing can be something you look forward to with anticipation, or something you dread. It all depends on what you are writing about. I encourage you to write aboout your passion in order to be successful on the internet.
I have students who are at various points in their internet marketing careers. The ones who truly love their topic will have a much greater chance of success. I know this because I have written about things I love and also things I cared about, but did not have a passion for. Now that I have been making my living online for two years (more…)

Most of you know that I have more than a dozen blogs. No, I don’t post to each one every day. Yes, they are all on different topics in various niches. Three of them are for small businesses that I market for.
The biggest question I get is regarding where I come up with fresh ideas and new content for each blog. The simple answer is that I always have my eyes and ears open. I read other blogs and subscribe to many email newsletters. I listen to other people’s teleseminars. I read articles online that are related to my topics. The end result is that I will never run out of things to write. You can do the same thing and position yourself as an expert in the process. Here are some suggestions for better blogging:
- Spend time researching your topic, both online and off.
- Read everything you can on your topic.
- Read other blogs and leave comments when you have something to add to the conversation.
- Google your topic and visit the sites that come up. Don’t just visit the ones on page 1 and 2 of Google; go to page 10 and see what gems you can find.
- Love your topic and be passionate about it. It will show in your writing.
- Be thankful that you have the opportunity to express yourself freely on your blog. Just 5 years ago, blogs were in their infancy. Now they are among the most powerful and influential sources of information the world has ever known.

If you have wanted to start a business on the internet but do not know where to begin, you have come to the right place. Writing an eBook is one way to get started with online writing and making money on the internet. Yet many people are reluctant to write an eBook and end up not having the successful online business that could change their lives in many ways. Here are some mistakes that people make that keep them from the success and profit they deserve.
- Believing that just one eBook will give them the passive income they are looking for. The truth is that you must continue to write if you want to make money. You will also make more money by explaining your eBook than by simply selling it on the internet. You can do this with coaching, consulting, or holding teleseminars to get your knowledge and expertise out to others around the world.
- Feeling that they are not an expert in (more…)

It is Independence Day in the United States today - July 4. Most people have the day off from work, and there are celebrations of many kinds all over the country. My day will begin before 6, when I help my Rotary Club set up the grills and the tables for our annual pancake breakfast here in Santa Clarita. Later in the day I will be at the Elk’s Lodge for a bar-b-que. I am also celebrating the day by not doing any writing.
I know that sounds unbelievable, but I am taking the day off from blogging, article writing, writing my eBook, tweeting, or doing any other social media writing. I may make some notes in the notebook I carry with me at all times, but I will wait until Saturday to do any formal writing for my business.
I encourage you to do the same thing. Take at least one day off each week to refresh and rejuvenate your creative process. Your writing will be better and your business will be more successful, because your brain will be ready to excel in your chosen area of expertise.

I am often asked by prospective students what they can do to make their writing stand out from that of others. They find that there are so many eBooks available online, and so many people writing articles and blog posts. They feel like their writing will just get lost in the plethora of reading material that is available online.
The answer is to give the readers a piece of yourself when you are writing. Share a story about how something that happened to you or someone you know made you think or do something differently. Explain how your perspective is based on your experiences. Tell them something in your writing that you would normally only share with someone you were speaking with face to face. In other words, write to the masses while speaking to only one.
Only you have lived your experience and have your perspective on any given situation. For example, I am writing an eBook about dogs with diabetes. Three months ago I would not have been passionate on this topic; when my own little dachshund, Jack, was diagnosed with this disease a couple of months ago, everything changed. My book is non-fiction, but it will be written with my unique perspective on this issue and how it has affected his life and the lives of many people and animals around him. Even though my target audience is comprised of thousands of people, I am writing this eBook to one person out there who is now facing this situation with their own dog.
Give this method of writing a try and see how it feels to you. Please feel free to leave your comments.

Right now you already have everything you need to be successful on the internet. You can write an eBook on your topic of interest and experience, and use it as the foundation of an online business. This business can be built into anything you want it to be, and it all begins with you delivering information on your niche topic to others who are willing to pay to receive the information. Here are some steps you can use to get started.
- Figure out what you are good at explaining to others. Most of us have some area of our lives where we are considered to be at least somewhat of an expert. Many times this is based on a career we have had or an experience we have dealt with related to health or a member of our family.
- What do people ask your advice or help about? What do you love doing so much that you would be willing to do it without being paid?
- Begin to write about this area of expertise. You can start with short articles, two hundred fifty to three hundred words long, and submit them to the article directories. Also, read and research as much as you can so that you become even more of an expert.
- Set aside time each day to (more…)

Now that you have decided to write an eBook, you must choose a topic. There are traditional books and eBooks on almost every topic these days, so you must choose one that meets several criteria. Here are some things to think about when choosing a topic for your eBook.
- What are you interested in? Take a look at what you enjoy doing – activities, sports, hobbies, collectibles – and see if there is a niche that you would like to write about and share what you know with other people. Specialized niches, such as model trains that are N scale, have many thousands of enthusiasts who are hungry for new information on a regular basis.
- Think about jobs and work experiences you have had over the course of your life so far. There may be an area where you have specialized knowledge that could be of interest to others as well. I have been a real estate appraiser for almost twenty years, even though I do not work at it any longer. There are many people who are trying to break into (more…)

Writing an eBook is the fastest and easiest way to get started making money on the internet. Once you know how to write an eBook that sells, you can build an online business that will give you passive income for the rest of your life. Learning the sequence that must be followed will almost guarantee you success on the internet. Do not leave out any of the steps, or the process will not work. Here are the steps to take if you want to write an eBook that will sell, giving you the internet marketing lifestyle you may have been searching for online.
- Find a specific target market in your niche. You can conduct your own market research on your niche topic to see which area appeals to you the most. Think about jobs or experiences you have had, or personal interests you know something about. Anything you are pasionate about will be the very best topic to write your eBook about.
- Do some research to see if they are actively searching for information on the internet. Type in the keywords that you would use on Google or Yahoo! to find more information on this topic.
- See if there are already some products for sale in this niche market. This way you will know if people are willing to pay for this information or not. Look at the top and sides of Google when you do your search. These are the paid ads, also referred to as sponsored ads, that show you how many people are paying to advertise there.
- Find an affiliate (more…)

There is a post on the blog over at Ezine Articles today that talks about being unique when writing articles. Chris Knight gives the great example of Burger King and McDonald’s. They may offer the same basic menu items, but each has a unique identity in the fast food. I believe the same can be said about eBooks.
Even if there are many eBooks out there on your exact niche topic, no one will write it the way you will. We are each unique individuals, with our own experiences and perspective on the world. I believe fully in what I said in that blog post - it is your duty and obligation to write your eBook and let people read it the way only you can write it.
At the first of this year I wrote a post entitled Will Someone Else Write Your eBook? Go over and read that post again, if you haven’t already. Make a promise to yourself to write the articles and eBook you know are important to you. No one else can say it like you can. Don’t find your eBook topic written by someone else because you thought you couldn’t say it in a unique way. With more than 1.3 billion people on the internet, there is someone waiting to hear your words and thoughts on your topic.
Be sure to go over to Ezine Articles and leave your comment on this. Let people know who you are and read what you have to say about this.

I am now in the beginning stages of writing my latest eBook on dogs and diabetes. At this point I am doing some research every day and putting together my outline. This outline will list the important points I want to cover in the eBook and break them down into about 7 or 8 chapters.
I have written one article already to get a better idea of how many people are truly interested in this topic. My initial reasearch over at Wordtracker shows that there are enough people to make this eBook worth writing, but I will continue to write more articles to get the big picture on interest in caring for a dog with diabetes. These articles will end up being incorporated into my final product. I will keep posting about my progress with this new eBook so that you can see exactly how it is done.
This summer I will be offering an eBook Writing Mastermind course for the first time. I will limit the group to 25 participants and work with everyone to get their eBook completed during the time the course is going. Contact me anytime to see if this eBook writing mastermind would be of interest to you. I will keep the cost as low as possible so as not to exclude anyone. My mentees are automatically included, but there will be room for new students as well.

If you have been struggling with getting your ebook written, think back to the original idea you had for this ebook. If you have been to my website, From Idea To Ebook, you will know that writing all begins with an idea - your idea. Whether it is a book, movie, play, or article, all writing is the result of an original idea in the writer’s mind. Think about the idea you had that made you want to write an ebook in the first place and you will be on your way to completing your ebook.
I write down my ideas as they come into my mind. I take each idea and write a post here on my blog about it. Then I expand that idea from a blog post into a short article of about 250 to 300 words. After that I combine several of these articles into a short report of ten to twenty pages. Finally I expand the short report into a full-length ebook. That ebook is the culmination of my work based on the original idea I had days, weeks, or even months before. Thoughts are things, so let your ideas materialize into completed writing for you.

Procrastination can be the enemy of the article and eBook writer. Putting off your writing until later may mean that it never gets done at all. I encourage you to set a schedule and stick to it. During the time you have designated as writing time, do not allow yourself to do anything else. If that means staring at a blank paper or computer screen, just sit there until the time is up. Try writing down tips or ideas about what you would write and it may begin to flow.
Writer’s block is similar to this but much more invasive. Determine if you are blocked or just procrastinating. Write about what you love and you look forward to the opportunity to write each day. Take these steps to discourage procrastination:
- Write down the reasons you want or need to write.
- Make a list of your goals - to increase your income, build a list of prospects, write an eBoook, etc.
- Write down your ideas you wish to write about.
Figure out what time of day is best for you to write - and then do it!

Many of you have contacted me about preparing a free special or short report to give out when people opt in to your list. The fastest way to do this is to combine articles you have written or use articles written by others. Write an introduction, include about 10 articles, write a conclusion, and you will have your report ready. Be sure to include one or two affiliate links in the report so that you will make some income from it over time. You can use it to generate leads and build your list.
When you submit your articles to the article directories you are giving your permission to allow others to distribute your articles. You can do the same thing by using articles written by others. Just be sure to keep the article intact, including the person’s resource box information. Search for articles on the topic you need, combine them together, PDF the document, and your short/special report is ready to go to work for you.
Preparing these reports will also get you closer to completing your own ebook. Keep writing, use an outline, and your ebook will be ready in just a few weeks.

Writing an ebook is like most any other type of writing. You first must find your voice. I will give you an example of what I mean by this.
Years ago I was working on a novel. I was accepted into a Master Writing class at UCLA where we shared and critiqued each other’s writing. I will never forget the first time I was invited to read a few pages of my book in front of the group. My novel was set in Florida, where I had lived for many years. It was a murder mystery with many plot twists. After I read the instructor, a well known writer from Canada, told me that it sounded like something written by Elmore Leonard. I beamed with pride because (more…)

To write an ebook is a worthwhile achievement. You will have become an author and will be able to use your ebook to promote yourself, your business, and your topic. But first you have to write it. What will motivate you to write every day and complete your ebook when you said that you would?
Motivation comes from deep inside of you. It is the little voice that tells you to write two more pages instead of watching television. Many people have good intentions when they start writing, but then make excuses when they don’t continue to the end. Recognize this as possible fear on your part. Courage is not the absence of fear; courage is the mastery of fear. Fear is also a good thing - if you have fear about your writing that means it is important to you.
Choose a topic you are passionate about, set your goals, and then write every day until your ebook is complete. Even if you only write for fifteen minutes, make it a daily habit and you will see results.

If you are just starting out you will want to read what other people are writing about. A good place to start is by going over to Blog Pulse. This site charts the trends that people are reading, writing, blogging and talking about. You can then do more research and see what resonates with you. Listening to other people can also make you a better writer. According to Greg Nutter, a Santa Clarita, California insurance agent, listening is a valuable skill that helps in all types of relationships.
Think about what you are interested in and passionate about, do the research, and you will know what you are going to write about in your ebook.

Writing an ebook will change the way you are perceived by others, bring you new opportunities, and make you money as well. But how do you get started? Begin with an idea. This should be your idea about what you want to share with your readers. You will have the opportunity to educate others in the area of your expertise and knowledge. This is a gift from you to the world. Think long and hard about how you will present your message and teachings before you start writing; when you begin you will be inspired by the thought of what it will mean to those who read your ebook.

“How do I write my ebook?” is a common question I hear regularly from people who want to get involved in ebook writing. There is no easy answer, but it is a simple process.Figure out what you want to write about in your ebook. Look closely at your previous experiences, both personal and business, and at what you have a passion for. When times get tough and you feel like you have been writing forever, it will be much more enjoyable if you have a passion for your topic.
Do your research and find out what people are looking for. There are millions of searches done every day and you want to find out exactly what people are searching for that is related to your topic. Sometimes you can make some small changes and end up connecting with hundreds or even thousands of people who are interested in learning more about your topic. Words that we use to describe our products, services or areas of expertise are usually slightly different from what the masses of internet users are using to find the exact information we are knowledgeable about.
Now that you know what you will write about, make an outline. You are looking for the main ideas that will become your chapter headings. Rework your outline as many times as necessary in order to have a clear vision of what each chapter in your book will contain.
Use time management to make sure you have enough time to write each day. If you are more creative and alert first thing in the morning, use that time to write. Do whatever you have to do to allow yourself to write. Turn off your television and tell people in your life that you are involved with an important project that will take some of your time each day.
Find a mentor to guide you through the process. We all perform better when we are mentored by someone who has gone through the writing process many times. This will help to alleviate some of the difficulties that writers encounter when they write their first ebook.
