Are You Writing About Your Passion?

Wednesday, August 13th, 2008

Blogging and online writing can be something you look forward to with anticipation, or something you dread. It all depends on what you are writing about. I encourage you to write aboout your passion in order to be successful on the internet.

I have students who are at various points in their internet marketing careers. The ones who truly love their topic will have a much greater chance of success. I know this because I have written about things I love and also things I cared about, but did not have a passion for. Now that I have been making my living online for two years (more…)

Getting Your Piece of the Affiliate Pie

Wednesday, July 30th, 2008

Whether you are new to working online or have been making money on the internet for a few years now, you should know that there is a lot of opportunity when it comes to affiliate marketing. When I was just starting out I didn’t want to promote other people’s eBooks and programs. I was very busy writing my own eBook and didn’t want to spend time on anything else. What I finally realized was that I could start making money within weeks by promoting other people’s products and services by becoming an affiliate for them.

First, I signed up for a free account over at Clickbank. Then I began to search for products that I could make money from by writing articles and blog posts. When I figured out how difficult it was to find anything on Clickbank, I signed up for a year over at Clickbank Prosearch. This service makes it simple to search for products using keywords, and then promote them through your affiliate link at Clickbank. I use the two sites simultaneously; ProSearch allows me to find the products and Clickbank sends me a check every two weeks.

The way that I actually promote these products is by (more…)

Schedule Appointments With Yourself To Get Your eBook Written

Saturday, July 12th, 2008

Your eBook will not write itself, so make the time by scheduling appointments with yourself. Whether you work at another job or stay home to write and work online, sticking to a schedule is extremely important. Figure out what time of day is best for you, and plan to write for 30 to 60 minutes during each writing period.

Starting with an outline is the most important thing to get you started. Your outline will be the road map you can follow to make your eBook flow naturally and logically from beginning to end. Once you have outlined your eBook and divided it into chapters, you will be able to accomplish more during the time you have scheduled.

Writing Your Articles And eBook - Set Up A Writing Schedule To Keep Yourself On Track

Wednesday, July 9th, 2008

Many people write when they are inspired. They post to their blog irregularly, write an article once in awhile, and continue to talk about their eBook getting finished. If you are serious about your writing, and want to build an online business, you will need to write on a more regular basis.

The best way is to make a schedule for yourself. Write it down so it becomes your goal for the week. Most writers are working from home, so setting a schedule can be a way to manage your time and get your writing finished. You can write two articles a week, and ecide which days you will spend time working on them. You may decide to blog on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays, and choose a theme for each of these posts, like reviewing a book on one of the posts, and talking about another blogger’s post on one of the other days. By setting this writing schedule in advance, you will accomplish more and become more organized in your business. Your writing will also improve over time, simply because you will be doing more of it.

As far as writing your eBook goes, you may want to register for a course, like the one I teach several times each year. It gives you a group of people to interact with, as well as lessons and deadlines to get your eBook written. You also learn the technology you will need to sell your eBook, such as copywriting and putting up your own web pages. No matter what path you choose, give your writing an opportunity to build a business for you on the internet.

Can Reading Magazines Give You Ideas For Your Articles And eBooks?

Monday, July 7th, 2008

When was the last time you sat down and enjoyed a magazine about a topic you write about? Writing articles to market yourself and your business can create a lead generating system for you for years to come. Once the article has circulated around the internet, people from around the world will be able to find you through the articles you have written in your niche. But how do you keep coming up with fresh new ideas for articles on your topic? I have just one word for you – magazines.

Yes, I look through magazines to come up with many good ideas for what to write about next. You can do this with the magazines you already subscribe to, read them at your local public library, or go online to sites that come from the magazine publishers. One of my favorite sites is at Magazines.com.

Sometimes I get ideas (more…)

My 7 Step Process On How To Write One eBook And Build An Online Business

Sunday, June 29th, 2008

Writing an eBook will be the single most powerful action you can take to build wealth online. You can build an entire business on the internet simply by writing one eBook. This may sound unbelievable, but it is exactly how I got started online. Let me explain the 7 step process I continue to use to make five figures a month from home.

  • The first thing you must do is to choose a niche. This niche should be broad enough to give you thousands of people who are interested in your topic, yet narrow enough to let you specialize in one area of the niche that you will become known as an expert in.
  • Spend some time doing your research. You are looking for the keywords that people will use to find information on your topic. There are several of these free keyword selector tool available. By doing my research I can find out if people are searching for my topic, if there are already products available on this niche topic, and if the people are ready and willing to spend money on these products.
  • The next thing to do is create a product. eBooks are the easiest, because you can write an outline that includes what you want to say, and then either record the information and have it transcribed or write it yourself. Either way, you will end up with a good quality product that you can sell and repurpose for years to come.
  • Now you must put up an opt-in page. These are also (more…)

Building An Online Business Requires Learnable Skills

Saturday, June 28th, 2008

“They made it sound so easy” is what I hear regularly from people who come on my calls or sign up for my courses. They, of course, are the people who sell you an expensive online course and make it all sound like you’ll be making more money than you ever have in your life by the time their class is over.

Well, I am here to tell you that you can make lots of money, but it will take time and effort on your part. It is simple, once you learn what you need to do to build an online business, but it is not easy. Remember that this is a business, much like any business, and you need to lay the foundation and learn the skills required to get it up and running. I was able to do it once I realized that all of the skills required were learnable skills, and I made up my mind to learn them.

First, choose a niche market. This is like opening up a bricks and mortar store - it must have a product or service to offer to others.

Next, begin to write as much as you can on this niche topic - articles, blog posts, an eBook - so that you will have products and begin to attract customers. You may also have to run ads in ezines and on Google to attract enough new prospects to start making money.

Finally, learn everything you can about your systems - autoresponders, shopping cart, website, teleseminar system, traffic, conversion, tracking, etc. The more you learn the more money you will make.

Once you are making money, you can outsource the parts of your business that you do not enjoy and take too much of your time. If you stick to this business model, you will make more money than you ever have before.

How To Make Money On The Internet - Get Ready To Start Writing

Saturday, June 21st, 2008

When I first began to build my online business, no one told me I would need to do so much writing. I just wanted to work from home and make more money than I could doing anything else, so I started writing.

I had always wanted to write, but had been told by various people over the years that my writing was not very good. So, for twenty years I did not write. I edited other people’s writing. I was a teacher and also worked in real estate. There were lots of papers and reports that needed to be edited and I was the one to do it.

Almost three years ago I began to pursue my online business, and that is when I found out how much writing was involved. These are the 5 types of writing I now do daily:

  •  Emails – it is important to make your subject line interesting, or people will not open the email to see what you have written

  • Blog posts – I have several blogs and always want to write posts that are informative and interesting to my readers
  • Articles – I have now written almost seven hundred articles during the past fifteen months. The articles must teach the reader something they want to know and make a point about the topic you are writing on.
  • eBooks and special reports – these are short books on a particular topic. I am now writing my fourth eBook, which will be sold online and bring passive income for years to come.
  • Sales pages – this is copywriting for the internet and is the way to sell what you have created, such as eBooks, special reports, audio files, and other products.

I now look forward to writing every day. If you enjoy writing, you will love working on the internet. Keep this in mind when you begin to work online. Writing will be the key to your success.

Build Your Online Business By Sharing Your Expertise With Others

Thursday, June 12th, 2008

Right now you already have everything you need to be successful on the internet. You can write an eBook on your topic of interest and experience, and use it as the foundation of an online business. This business can be built into anything you want it to be, and it all begins with you delivering information on your niche topic to others who are willing to pay to receive the information. Here are some steps you can use to get started.

  • Figure out what you are good at explaining to others. Most of us have some area of our lives where we are considered to be at least somewhat of an expert. Many times this is based on a career we have had or an experience we have dealt with related to health or a member of our family.
  • What do people ask your advice or help about? What do you love doing so much that you would be willing to do it without being paid?
  • Begin to write about this area of expertise. You can start with short articles, two hundred fifty to three hundred words long, and submit them to the article directories. Also, read and research as much as you can so that you become even more of an expert.
  • Set aside time each day to (more…)

Turn Your eBook Into An E-Course For Big Profits

Sunday, June 8th, 2008

I just came back from Atlanta, where I spent a week with two different mentors. They both spoke at length about e-courses, where you take the content from your eBook or other writing and turn it into a class you handle completely by email. I thought about this and told them about the way I prefer to teach, using teleseminars with email follow-up.

When they showed me exactly what they are doing I decided to revisit the idea when I returned home. I am now organizing some material on writing articles, blog posts, and eBooks into an e-course that could be taught over a four to six week period. I would give assignments at the end of each lesson and the students could return what they write by email the following week. Many people, especially those who do not attend my teleseminars, may prefer to learn in this manner. Teaching online is all about making it simple for people to accomplish their goals in a way that is convenient for them.

I will provide my course to anyone who is interested as soon as it is completed. That way I can receive both testimonials and feedback before I present it to people for a fee. I’ll keep you posted on the content of this new e-course.

Recession-Proof Your Life By Writing An eBook And Building An Online Business

Friday, June 6th, 2008

Now that gasoline is more than four dollars a gallon across the United States, even the media has to admit we are in a recession. This gives me even more reason to be so thankful for being able to run my entire business from home. My income has steadily increased every month for the past six months and will most likely continue to rise for the remainder of this difficult economic period. I have always said there is no recession on the internet, and I believe that more strongly today than ever before.

By now you know that my information is solid and that I break everything down in terms and steps that you can understand. I can teach you how to research your niche, write an eBook, start a blog, and build a short website to sell your eBook. Writing and Selling Your eBook - 3 Reasons To Write an eBook

Sunday, May 25th, 2008

Do you want to write an eBook? It seems like almost everyone you meet has written an eBook or a traditional book of some kind, but what is the reason behind it? You must ask yourself this question before you begin a course or program that will teach you how to do it correctly. Here are the three main reasons that people usually have for wanting to write an eBook.

  • One reason for writing an eBook is to gain visibility and credibility in your field. By writing an eBook you will be perceived much differently by others. This can lead to public speaking engagements, job offers, book deals, and other lucrative opportunities.
  • You may write an eBook strictly as a lead generator for your business. If you are already established as an author, speaker, coach or other professional, writing an eBook will help you to increase the business you already have.
  • The third reason for writing an eBook is to make passive income online for years to come. The majority of people come into my program with this in mind. By finding a niche of hungry prospects that are willing to pay for information they want, you can do extremely well on the internet. Just remember to write your eBook in a way that gives people what they want, not what you think they need.

My eBook Writing And Technology Mastermind course begins on June 18. I still have spaces available and the class is priced to be affordable and accessible to everyone who wants this information. Find out more and sign up now.

Marketing Yourself And Your Online Business With Blogs

Monday, May 12th, 2008

Marketing yourself and your online business is a full time job. You might as well make it fun, and writing articles and blogging allows you to do that. Most of you know that I have now written more than 630 articles during the past 14 months, but you may not know that I have also been blogging since 2005.

I started out with Blogger, Google’s free service, but quickly realized that it was not good for professional business purposes. Free is not always better, and that is particularly true when it comes to blogging platforms.

I looked next at WordPress, but saw that the free version was no better than Blogger and the hosted version was just too technologically advanced for what I wanted to do. (This blog is done on WordPress, but it was installed by people who do it professionally. It can run into several hundred dollars or more to have a custom WordPress theme with plug-ins installed on your server.)

In the fall of 2005 I found the Blog Squad, Patsi Krakoff and Densie Wakeman. They introduced me to the Typepad blogging platform. Typepad can be set up in less than an hour and the cost is as low as $4.95 US per month, although I recommend the Plus package, which runs $8.95 US per month. It is much less if you pay by the year.

You can learn everything about maintaining your Typepad blog by reading Patsi and Denise’s book, Build A Better Blog. I keep it next to my computer and refer to it regularly when I want to make a change or add another feature to one of my blogs. I also belong to the Blog Squad’s Mentor Program. The price is right and the information is priceless. I must say that the Blog Squad have been instrumental to my success online.

How To Write An eBook In Your Spare Time

Saturday, May 10th, 2008

Yes, I am completely serious about what I am saying in the title of this post. No matter how busy you think you are, there is still time troughout your day to devote to writing your eBook. By managing your time well, you will be able to write every day and get your eBook written, even if you have other full-time commitments.

I keep a spiral bound notebook with me at all times. I have one in the car and another one in my purse. Whenever I have an idea about something I want to write about, I make sure it gets into the notebook. I have even been known to pull over to the side of the rode and write down my ideas. The dullest pencil will always be better than the sharpest mind, so I don’t let my ideas get away.

Look for time throughout your day to write your eBook. If your mornings are very busy, see if you can find 20 or 30 minutes to write after you have completed your morning tasks. If you go to a job every morning, leave home early and find a comfortable place to sit in your car and write.

When I was still teaching in the classroom, (more…)

eBook Writing Profits - Solve Problems For Your Target Audience

Wednesday, May 7th, 2008

You will sell more eBooks when you tell people how to solve the problems they have that are related to your niche. People will do more to alleviate their pain than they will to gain pleasure. The whole idea of being able to download an eBook from the internet at any hour of the day is based on the premise that people want answers to their problems immediately.

For example, if your niche is parenting infants and toddlers, you may be writing an eBook about how to have a happy and well-adjusted child. Parents will be interested in that type of information, but imagine their little one has an earache. Can you see how much more motivated they would be to purchase information on how to solve that problem when their baby is crying from the pain?

Think about the people in your target audience. What keeps them awake at night? What problems are they facing that you could help them with? Answer those questions and include them in an eBook.

Using Your eBook As A Vending Machine Business In Cyberspace

Monday, May 5th, 2008

Writing and selling an eBook online can become the equivalent of having a vending machine in cyberspace. This will only happen if you follow the necessary steps and systemize the process. Here are some things to think about as you build an online business that will pay off for years to come.

  • Do your research first. Find out what information people want and are willing to pay for. Remember that people will pay for what they WANT, not what you think they NEED. You can change this need to a want while you are writing, so that your eBook appeals to a mass audience on the internet.
  • Systemize the entire process so that very little human interaction is necessary. Set it up so that people pay online and then receive the eBook as a digital download. Write your eBook using Microsoft Word and then convert it to a PDF (portable document format) using Adobe Acrobat. This will cut down on customer service requests on how to open the file to access your eBook.
  • Selling an eBook will bring you ten to twenty times as much profit as (more…)

Should I Write An eBook If My Business Is Offline?

Wednesday, April 30th, 2008

This is the question I have been asked most in the past month or so. As people begin to feel the pinch of the downturn in our economy, they are looking for ways to supplement their income while still maintaining their offline business. This is what I tell them.

Having a special report and an eBook will give you an advantage in business, whether you work exclusively online or have a bricks and mortar business. You can give these away to prospects and clients, or begin to sell information about your business on a one page website. Either way you will see an increase in your income and begin to build passive income that will grow exponentially over time.

Begin to write down important ideas that people would need to know if they came to you to do business. Think about everything you know that the average person does not. Whether you are a massage therapist or a house painter, you have specialized knowledge that others could benefit from. Don’t give in to the recession; take your business online and global and you will see it all very differently.

Recession-Proof Your Business With eBooks - There Is No Recession On The Internet

Monday, April 21st, 2008

When you work online, you will find that there is no recession. If anything, people are more willing to do business during difficult economic times than during prosperous ones. By writing articles and an eBook you will be able to build an online business that will bring you profits for years to come.

No matter what topic you choose, having an eBook for that niche market will be a way to sell your information to people around the world. The economy is different everywhere, so don’t let talk of a recession stop you. You can easily write from home and build a business to supplement or replace your current income.

Be sure to sign up for my weekly teleseminars on how to write articles and turn them into profitable eBooks. I also teach the technology you will need to run your own online business and make money with your writing and other products and services.
