When you write an eBook, you have complete creative control over what you include and how you choose to present your information to prospective readers. I encourage my students to draw upon their life experiences, previous or current careers, and any other interests or areas of expertise that will add to the unique quality of their eBook.
Not having to deal with the demands of an editor or publisher frees you up to present your topic in the exact way that you feel is best. Use this to your advantage by including stories, case studies, relevant data or graphs, and anything else you find appropriate. You are establishing and positioning yourself as an expert by writing an eBook, so take full advantage of this and see it as an opportunity.
I like to include a picture or photgraph at the end of each chapter, and tell a story that makes a point about that chapter’s topic. You may choose to include a quote, Bible passage, or other information that will give your eBook a theme that can carry throughout the entire eBook. The more creative and unique this theme is, the more successful it will be.
More and more publishers are now looking for eBooks to publish as traditional books. You will not even be aware that a publisher has purchased and read your eBook until they contact you regarding publishing rights. Write your eBook in your own unique voice and you may be pleasantly surprised at the outcome.

One part of my online business involves marketing for three small businesses. I write articles, blog, and send press releases for a handyman, an insurance agent, and a plumbing company. You can do the same thing as you are building your online business.
I began by setting up a blog for the handyman two years ago. I would write about the work he did and include pictures with many of the posts. I always included keywords in the post titles, which included the name of his city and the words handyman, patio cover, kitchen faucet repair, ceiling fans installed, or anything else that we was doing. Within a few months his phone was ringing and he had discontinued all other advertising. I had also started writing one or two articles each month for him, making sure to include these same keywords in the article titles.
By this time the insurance agent had found out what I was doing and asked me to do the same for him. We negotiated a monthly fee and I began writing. The most recent (more…)

This month I am featuring Judy H. Wright, Parent Educator and Relationship Coach, as my mentee of the month. Judy is a tenacious leader, as well as a prolific writer, having authored several books and written many articles. She is the founder of Artichoke Press and has so much to offer her clients. I have chosen her for the month of August because of the hard work and level of enthusiasm she brings to my mentee program. Please visit Judy’s site and contact her to find out what else she is doing. I sometimes get tired just watching how much she is able to accomplish in a short amount of time. She is also an example of someone who sets and achieves her goals. You can follow her on Twitter and find her on Facebook as well.

Most of you know that I have more than a dozen blogs. No, I don’t post to each one every day. Yes, they are all on different topics in various niches. Three of them are for small businesses that I market for.
The biggest question I get is regarding where I come up with fresh ideas and new content for each blog. The simple answer is that I always have my eyes and ears open. I read other blogs and subscribe to many email newsletters. I listen to other people’s teleseminars. I read articles online that are related to my topics. The end result is that I will never run out of things to write. You can do the same thing and position yourself as an expert in the process. Here are some suggestions for better blogging:
- Spend time researching your topic, both online and off.
- Read everything you can on your topic.
- Read other blogs and leave comments when you have something to add to the conversation.
- Google your topic and visit the sites that come up. Don’t just visit the ones on page 1 and 2 of Google; go to page 10 and see what gems you can find.
- Love your topic and be passionate about it. It will show in your writing.
- Be thankful that you have the opportunity to express yourself freely on your blog. Just 5 years ago, blogs were in their infancy. Now they are among the most powerful and influential sources of information the world has ever known.

A press release is an announcement of what you are doing. You can send one when you first start writing your eBook, have completed your eBook, or when you have done anything you want to share with the world. I usually send one each time one of my courses begins, or when I have reached a milestone with my articles or blog.
I like PR.com because it is free. You can open up an account and send as many press releases as you like. If you need help with writing your press releases, you may want to read Joan Stewart’s press release tutorial. She wll give you great ideas and examples of what a press release can look like.
Some people send press releases on a regular basis, every week or even more often. I send two a month, but probably should send more. When you submit a press release online, it will stay there forever and bring you visitors and even journalists who are interested in knowing more. I encourage you to give this a try and promote yourself and your online writing.

I started writing articles and learning about article marketing at the beginning of 2007. At first I could not see the benefit of writing and submitting articles on a regular basis, but as my list began to grow and I became better known on the internet, I was finally a believer.
Article writing and marketing will help people find you, increasing your visibility and attracting the right people to your business. When someone has read one of your articles they understand more completely what it is that you can do for them, because you have positioned yourself as an expert in your field. As you continue to submit these articles to the article directories, they will be distributed to sites around the world. Someone who may never have heard of you will now be exposed to your information.
I have now written 725 articles, so my method (more…)

If you have wanted to start a business on the internet but do not know where to begin, you have come to the right place. Writing an eBook is one way to get started with online writing and making money on the internet. Yet many people are reluctant to write an eBook and end up not having the successful online business that could change their lives in many ways. Here are some mistakes that people make that keep them from the success and profit they deserve.
- Believing that just one eBook will give them the passive income they are looking for. The truth is that you must continue to write if you want to make money. You will also make more money by explaining your eBook than by simply selling it on the internet. You can do this with coaching, consulting, or holding teleseminars to get your knowledge and expertise out to others around the world.
- Feeling that they are not an expert in (more…)

When I found out I was returning to Atlanta last month for an internet marketing program, less than 4 weeks after I had just been there for Big Seminar, I cringed at the thought of another expensive hotel room. Then I contacted David Reynolds, one of my mentees, and an expert in travel planning.
David was able to find me a hotel for more than $100 less than the one that had been recommended to me, and it was located right down the street from the other, more expensive one. It was a beautiful LaQuinta Inn, and they even served continental breakfast each morning. I also wanted to see some family that I have outside of Atlanta. They live in a very small town call Monroe, about an hour and a half east of Atlanta. They just don’t have any extra room, so when I have visited recently I have stayed at the only hotel in town. Well, it turns out there is a second hotel in Monroe, and the cost per night is much lower. David was able to locate it quickly, and you can imagine my relative’s surprise when I told them about it.
Overall, David’s expertise saved me more than three hundred dollars. Now I won’t think of paying full price ever again. He has written an eBook about this insider information, and it is finally available to everyone. I have three more trips planned before the end of 2008, and David’s information will save me more than a thousand dollars overall. Whether you are planning a trip for business or pleasure, don’t pay more than you need to. Many of you will be coming to Los Angeles in September for the Bridging Heart and Marketing Conference, so this could be the ideal time to pick up a copy of this eBook. Spend your money on other things, instead of giving it all to the hotels. I highly recommend his information.

Your eBook will not write itself, so make the time by scheduling appointments with yourself. Whether you work at another job or stay home to write and work online, sticking to a schedule is extremely important. Figure out what time of day is best for you, and plan to write for 30 to 60 minutes during each writing period.
Starting with an outline is the most important thing to get you started. Your outline will be the road map you can follow to make your eBook flow naturally and logically from beginning to end. Once you have outlined your eBook and divided it into chapters, you will be able to accomplish more during the time you have scheduled.

When was the last time you sat down and enjoyed a magazine about a topic you write about? Writing articles to market yourself and your business can create a lead generating system for you for years to come. Once the article has circulated around the internet, people from around the world will be able to find you through the articles you have written in your niche. But how do you keep coming up with fresh new ideas for articles on your topic? I have just one word for you – magazines.
Yes, I look through magazines to come up with many good ideas for what to write about next. You can do this with the magazines you already subscribe to, read them at your local public library, or go online to sites that come from the magazine publishers. One of my favorite sites is at Magazines.com.

Right now you already have everything you need to be successful on the internet. You can write an eBook on your topic of interest and experience, and use it as the foundation of an online business. This business can be built into anything you want it to be, and it all begins with you delivering information on your niche topic to others who are willing to pay to receive the information. Here are some steps you can use to get started.
- Figure out what you are good at explaining to others. Most of us have some area of our lives where we are considered to be at least somewhat of an expert. Many times this is based on a career we have had or an experience we have dealt with related to health or a member of our family.
- What do people ask your advice or help about? What do you love doing so much that you would be willing to do it without being paid?
- Begin to write about this area of expertise. You can start with short articles, two hundred fifty to three hundred words long, and submit them to the article directories. Also, read and research as much as you can so that you become even more of an expert.
- Set aside time each day to (more…)

I started submitting my short articles to Ezine Articles in March of 2007. Within two or three months I had enough people on my list to start making money and build an online business. Before this time I had not had any direction to take to get started on the internet. To date, I have 667 articles published, with almost 111,000 page views. These numbers still seem incredible to me, and I lived through each day, so I know it can be done. To see where I am at when you read this post, just go to Articles by Connie. You can see that I write articles on a variety of topics. Some of the articles promote me and my sites, and others promote affiliate poducts and services that I endorse. I will tell you that each article will be worth about $100 to me over the course of about six months.
On my teleseminar today I will explain how to write these articles quickly so that you can get started with your own online business. Sign up in the box to the right and you will receive the call-in information. I will also make this call available so that you can listen to the replay at a later time.
Writing these articles has allowed me to position myself as somewhat of an expert, giving me increased credibility and visibility on the internet. It has also enabled me to write and sell my eBooks and make money from affiliate products and services. Be sure to listen to this teleseminar to get some new ideas.

Do you want to write an eBook? It seems like almost everyone you meet has written an eBook or a traditional book of some kind, but what is the reason behind it? You must ask yourself this question before you begin a course or program that will teach you how to do it correctly. Here are the three main reasons that people usually have for wanting to write an eBook.
- One reason for writing an eBook is to gain visibility and credibility in your field. By writing an eBook you will be perceived much differently by others. This can lead to public speaking engagements, job offers, book deals, and other lucrative opportunities.
- You may write an eBook strictly as a lead generator for your business. If you are already established as an author, speaker, coach or other professional, writing an eBook will help you to increase the business you already have.
- The third reason for writing an eBook is to make passive income online for years to come. The majority of people come into my program with this in mind. By finding a niche of hungry prospects that are willing to pay for information they want, you can do extremely well on the internet. Just remember to write your eBook in a way that gives people what they want, not what you think they need.
My eBook Writing And Technology Mastermind course begins on June 18. I still have spaces available and the class is priced to be affordable and accessible to everyone who wants this information. Find out more and sign up now.

When I was writing my first eBook almost two years ago, I found that my list was so small I would not have enough prospects to sell my eBook to once it was finished. I decided to take some of the points I had made in my eBook and turn them into a 6 part e-course. I began to tell my list, my business contacts, other bloggers, and anyone else who would listen about my e-course. The result was that my list began to grow and grow as people shared it with others. Everyone wanted my e-course, even though it only consisted of 6 short emails that I loaded into an autoresponder series. I began to make money as people purchased the affiliate products I listed at the end of each part of the e-course.
I have given away several of my e-courses as examples of how you can build your list and make money this way. Writing even a short e-course will position you as an expert in your field, and teach others the information you want to share in smaller, consumable chunks. Yesterday I found an eBook that describes the process in more detail and much better than I could do myself, so I want to share that with you now. It is written by Jimmy D Brown, the well-known internet author, and is called How To Create An E-Course. Please read it, learn from it, and let me know what you think about it.
