There are free keyword research selector tools available to you on the internet. I have written about the Wordtracker tool in previous posts, but now I would like to tell you about Trellian. This service offers a free version that is very good at helping you to find keywords you may not have thought of for writing and marketing to your niche. You type in the word or words that you believe people are using to find information on your topic, and Trellian returns the searches that are being requested by people, along with additional keyword suggestions.
Keywords are the only way that the search engines can connect people who are searching for information on your topic to your blog, website, eBook, or other products and services. Once you can define these words and phrases, making this connection become much easier.
Let me know which tool you prefer - Wordtracker or Trellian. Make a list of your keywords and keyword phrases and keep it close by your computer so that you can access it easily when you are writing articles and blog posts. These free keyword research tools will make the entire process go faster and easier.

If you’ve been holding your breath while the NFL decided Brett Favre’s fate, it’s time to get back to work. Of course, this is an example of using a current event to get your reader’s attention. You might also have noticed that I am starting to use more graphics, and that is because iClipArt is having a great offer on their clip art service. Check it out if you have been looking for graphics to spice up your blog posts.
Tie your blog posts into what is going on in the world around you, and you will find that your readers are more interested in your blog posts overall. If you can connect your current events post to your niche topic - even better. Football season is right around the corner, so I challenge you to tie it in to your topic and let us know so we can take a look. I will publish links to all blogs using a football connection between now and Labor Day.

This morning I went to the networking meeting held weekly in my city. I like to visit them about every 6 months or so to see what they are doing. It is not a group that would be a good fit for my online business, but I do offer them tips on how to promote their offline businesses. I am always thrilled when one of them has written an article or started a blog, but they are pretty set in their ways so this does not happen very often.
Today I was pleasantly surprised when one of the members got up to speak about her landscape design company. She now understands that not everyone with a backyard is her ideal client. Once she was able to focus on which people she wanted to work with, she was able to let everyone else go.

Having your own segment on an internet radio show is a great way to let people know who you are and what you do. I have just started doing weekly shows on Blog Talk Radio, and I can tell you that it is a unique way to find new prospects and clients while building your list. If you think you may be interested in hosting your own show, here are some suggestions that will make it work for you.
- Register for an account and spend some time getting to know how the system works. You don’t want to have to be looking for what you need when your segment is about to begin.
- Commit to do a show each week at the same time for the next four weeks. Blog Talk Radio allows you to book for up to a month in advance. This will give people an opportunity to listen to what you have to say and get to know you. You want to develop a following and this is the best way to let people know what time your show will be so that they can plan ahead.
- Use your keywords (more…)

I can remember when it would have taken me several days to do this type of copywriting. I can’t overstress the importance of blogging when you are writing and marketing your eBook. Your blog will be the best way to get your name and information known on the internet, giving you the opportunity to gain visibility, credibility, and profitability online. It will also give you the content you need to finish writing your eBook.
I have written about this in previous blog posts, but many people still need to learn about using their blog for search engine optimization (SEO). Take a look at any of my post titles and you will see that I am using my keywords to help people find my blog. When someone searches for your topic on Google or any of the search engines, you want your blog to come up as high as possible in the rankings.
By using your eBook chapter headings as your categories, you will make it even easier to get your eBook written by repurposing your blog posts. Once you have written ten or more posts on one category, you will have most of that chapter completed.
Get back in the blogging habit, post something of interest every day, and you will not only get your eBook written but also have someone to sell it to.

Are you writing an eBook on a topic that people are interested in purchasing? The only way you will know is if you do your research before you finish writing. Many people do not want to spend the time doing their research, and then are disappointed when their eBook does not sell. Here is how to turn your eBook around so that you can make passive income by writing about what you know and love.
- Spend as much time as possible researching the keywords people use when they are searching for information on your topic. If you have difficulty determining which words describe what you are writing about, look for sites that are doing something similar to what you want to do and see which words they are using.
- Make an honest assessment of your topic. Is this information already available for free somewhere else online? If so, you may want to rethink your topic and how you are presenting it.
- Decide if you will need to (more…)

If you intend to complete your eBook in a reasonable amount of time, whether that is seven days or three months, you will need to focus your attention on your writing project. Maintaining this kind of focus is the biggest problem writers encounter, but it does not have to be that way. Here are some ways to get your eBook completed in a timely manner and develop the focus that will help you succeed in all areas of running a business on the internet.
- Write down your exact goal in regards to your eBook. Decide in the beginning whether you will give it away, use it as a lead generator, or set up a web page to sell it online.
- Spend some time researching your topic to make sure there are enough people who are interested in purchasing your information in eBook format to solve their problem. I can’t stress this point enough. You do not want to spend time writing an eBook that no one is interested in purchasing. Continue to go back and do this research as you are writing. It is important to lay the foundation before you begin any new project. Before you start writing your eBook, research your topic thoroughly to make sure there is a large group of people who are hungry to purchase information on this subject. The best way to do this is to spend time searching your keywords, your competitors, and the products and services that are currently available online to people who are searching.
Use one or more of the free keyword selector tools to see how many people are searching each month for the keywords that best describe your product or service. Send me an email if you want the URL for any of these free sites. The keywords are the words and phrases that someone would type into Google or any of the search engines when they are looking for information on the internet.
Google your keywords to find out who your competitors are. On the internet it is a good thing to have competition. It tells you that there are people who are already purchasing products and services online in your niche. Take a look at what your competition is doing and then do it better.
Go to your competitor’s websites and see what they are offering, how they reach their prospects, and what you can do that is similar or an improved version of what is already being done. You can even right-click on your competitors’ websites to see what keywords they are using. This is a great way to develop your own marketing plan and get your online business started.
Once you have completed all of these tasks, begin to write your eBook. You will know exactly what people are looking for, what others have to offer, and how you can best compete online so that people will choose to purchase from you instead of from somebody else.

Now that you have decided to write an eBook, you must choose a topic. There are traditional books and eBooks on almost every topic these days, so you must choose one that meets several criteria. Here are some things to think about when choosing a topic for your eBook.
- What are you interested in? Take a look at what you enjoy doing – activities, sports, hobbies, collectibles – and see if there is a niche that you would like to write about and share what you know with other people. Specialized niches, such as model trains that are N scale, have many thousands of enthusiasts who are hungry for new information on a regular basis.
- Think about jobs and work experiences you have had over the course of your life so far. There may be an area where you have specialized knowledge that could be of interest to others as well. I have been a real estate appraiser for almost twenty years, even though I do not work at it any longer. There are many people who are trying to break into (more…)

Being able to write and sell your eBook online has revolutionized the publishing industry. Instead of waiting one to two years to write and publish your work, you can now have an eBook written and ready to sell on the internet in a matter of a few short weeks, or even less, in some cases. However, many writers make the same mistakes over and over, resulting in their eBook not selling like they had hoped that it would. Here are three mistakes people make when writing an eBook or other information product.
- Not doing the research ahead of time to find out how many people are looking for information of your niche topic. It does not matter if you think your idea will make a good eBook or not. What matters is that thousands of other people are searching regularly for your topic. Use Wordtracker or one of the other free keyword search tools to see how many people are looking for the words that describe what you have written about.
- Trying to sell an eBook that tells people what they need instead of what they want. People do not want (more…)

Blogging is an excellent way to organize your eBook so that you can complete it in the shortest amount of time possible. As you are writing your eBook, break it up into chapters that are logical and sequential for your niche topic. Each chapter needs a title that contains your keywords, so the reader will know exactly what to expect from that particular chapter.
Next, use the keywords from your chapter titles as the categories on your blog. Every time you post to your blog, add the post to the category that coincides with your chapter title and keywords. Readers will be able to locate the information that is relevant to what they need, and more people will find you through your blog.
When you are writing your eBook, you can pull up all of the posts you made relating to a specific chapter by clicking on the category heading. This make the writing process go faster and smoother, and your eBook will be written in record time.

If you are busy at work writing your eBook, the last thing you may want to take on is more writing. But, by blogging and writing articles, you will be able to leverage your time spent writing so that you can sell your eBook more easily once it is completed.
Determine the keywords that relate to your eBook. Then use these keywords in your blog post titles and the titles of your articles. This will help more people find you when they are searching online for your topic.
Article writing and marketing will also bring many new readers to your blog. You can let these readers know about your eBook when they visit your blog, and encourage them to sign up to receive email updates. This will build your list so that you can begin to market your information and products to them over time.
Over time people will be able to find you in the search engines as they type in the keywords you are using. This is all a part of SEO (search engine optimization) and means that you are using the words and phrases (keywords) that relate to the topic of your eBook in a way that makes your website and blog easier to find. The more people find you based on your keywords, the more likely they are to be interested in purchasing your eBook.

Your blog is one place to get your keywords working for you. As you make posts about areas of interest in your niche, you will want to attract readers who will search for these keywords in Google and the other search engines. The very best way to do this is by writing keyword rich titles for each of your blog posts.
Fo example, If I am writing about making an outline before you write your eBook, my post may be something like - Ebook Writing - How To Write An Ebook Using An Outline. This way I have used the keyword ebook writing, as well as how to write an ebook, in my title. I will then write my blog post naturally, focusing on the information I am providing rather than the keywords I want to optimize.
Research your keywords and keep a list of them next to your computer. You will then have easy access to the words and phrases you will want to include in your blog post titles, making it easier to come up with ideas for more posts. Be sure to read other blogs on your topic to see what others are writing about and to leave your comments on their posts. When those readers come back to your blog it will be your titles that make them want to keep reading.

Everyone wants to write an eBook but few people want to learn how to write an eBook that sells. If you are going to undertake the process of writing an eBook, make sure you understand how to write one that will bring you profits for years to come.
You must first choose a niche that has thousands of people with a problem that you can solve. Start by thinking of a problem or situation you have experienced and how you were able to remedy it in a positive way. Some of the best eBooks come out of experiences you have had in your personal life. Some example of this are bed-wetting, fear of public speaking, arthritis, losing weight and keeping it off, and more. Spend some time thinking about what kept you awake at night and how you brought about change.
Then go over to Wordtracker’s free keyword search tool and enter some words and phrases that best describe the information someone might be searching for. You want to find keywords and keyword phrases that have at least 50 searches per day. Also take a look at the words and phrases below your main keywords. This is referred to as the long tail. These words will also be important in your research.

I am now in the beginning stages of writing my latest eBook on dogs and diabetes. At this point I am doing some research every day and putting together my outline. This outline will list the important points I want to cover in the eBook and break them down into about 7 or 8 chapters.
I have written one article already to get a better idea of how many people are truly interested in this topic. My initial reasearch over at Wordtracker shows that there are enough people to make this eBook worth writing, but I will continue to write more articles to get the big picture on interest in caring for a dog with diabetes. These articles will end up being incorporated into my final product. I will keep posting about my progress with this new eBook so that you can see exactly how it is done.
This summer I will be offering an eBook Writing Mastermind course for the first time. I will limit the group to 25 participants and work with everyone to get their eBook completed during the time the course is going. Contact me anytime to see if this eBook writing mastermind would be of interest to you. I will keep the cost as low as possible so as not to exclude anyone. My mentees are automatically included, but there will be room for new students as well.
