Big Seminar 12 Is Coming To Atlanta in October!

Monday, August 18th, 2008

There was a cool breeze in the air today and all of a sudden I got excited about the next Big Seminar. You see, I went to Big, as it is affectionately referred to, for the first time in April. I learned so much, and have almosted doubled my monthly income based on the new information I learned there.

Big Seminar is put on by Armand Morin, one of the most intelligent guys on the internet. He is also very personable, and I stayed the day after Big Seminar was over to train with a group of about 40 people. It was truly magical, and I was surrounded by many people whose list I had been on for the past couple of years. I learned more about writing and marketing an eBook or other information product on that day than I had learned during the previous year.

Even if you can’t make it to Atlanta in October for this three day conference, be sure to sign up for the 12 remaining preview calls. There is no cost or obligation, and the calls are all informative and helpful to anyone starting an online business of any kind. If you are going to Big, let me know and I will refund 50% of my commission back to you on the last day of the event.

Syndicate Your Blog Content Using Web 2.0 Applications

Thursday, August 14th, 2008

Even though it isn’t time for my Tuesday technology tip, I wanted to share this information with you. When you make a post to your blog these days, it is likely to appear in many more places than just on your blog. This is all thanks to the magic of syndication, which basically means that your content can be delivered to different sites in various places, giving you massive exposure all over the internet. Here are some ways for you to get started so that you can use the power of syndication to gain more visibility on the internet.

  • Accept the fact that Web 2.0 is a reality and here to stay. I like to define this phenomenon as the ability for people to finally be part of the conversation online, and to choose what information they want to receive, in contrast to interruption marketing, where we were all at the mercy of those who wanted to contact us without our permission.
  • Start an account on Twitter right away. Look for people who have similar interests to yours to follow in the beginning, and then see what happens.
  • Open up an account on Facebook. Here you will be able to (more…)

Are You Writing About Your Passion?

Wednesday, August 13th, 2008

Blogging and online writing can be something you look forward to with anticipation, or something you dread. It all depends on what you are writing about. I encourage you to write aboout your passion in order to be successful on the internet.

I have students who are at various points in their internet marketing careers. The ones who truly love their topic will have a much greater chance of success. I know this because I have written about things I love and also things I cared about, but did not have a passion for. Now that I have been making my living online for two years (more…)

Ebook Writing - Summer Olympics In China Demonstrate The Global Perspective

Sunday, August 10th, 2008

Although I have eBook writing and marketing students living all over the world, most of the people I work with are located in Northern America, Western Europe, and Australia. After watching the Olympics from Beijing, China, I have begun to think differently about writing and selling eBooks. I encourage you to do the same, and here are the reasons I have for changing my thinking so drastically.

  • China has about 1.3 billion residents. That is one billion more people than currently live in the United States. One out of every 5 people on planet Earth lives in China.
  • These people have the same needs, problems, desires, and goals as people throughout the rest of the world. Yet most of us working online do not reach out to them. Instead, we continue to relate to people online as though they are our next door neighbors. In order to prosper in the coming years, we must relate to our clients and prospects on a global level.
  • No matter what your niche, the people in China can relate to it. When I think of the various niche markets I write in – weight loss, Yorkshire terriers and other small dogs, relationships, success, internet marketing, and eBook writing – I know that the Chinese would also be interested in learning more.

So what can we all do to (more…)

Article Writing And Marketing - Build Your List By Choosing An Article Directory That Promotes You Online

Wednesday, August 6th, 2008

Most of you know that I write lots of articles. Lots means that I just submitted my 741st article this morning. I write on a variety of topics, but most of my articles are about writing articles and eBooks, because this is what I am passionate about.

In the beginning I only submitted my articles to Ezine Articles. They are the largest directory, and I thought I would get enough exposure by just submitting to them. After a few months I began submitting to some of the other directories, and found them to not be very good in terms of getting my article circulated around the internet. I wrote a post a couple of months ago about article length. Now my articles are longer, about 400 to 450 words, and this is the reason why.

I have just started using the ArticleMarketerFree directory. This is the free version of their paid service. They require a 400 word minimum, and promise wider distrbution of your article than most any other directory. I encourage you to sign up for a free account, and I will let you know exactly what my experience is during this month. If the distribution is as good as they promise, I will most likely join the paid version to build my list more quickly and increase my income from my online business.

Article Writing And Marketing, Blogging, And Sending Press Releases To Make The Phone Ring

Monday, August 4th, 2008

One part of my online business involves marketing for three small businesses. I write articles, blog, and send press releases for a handyman, an insurance agent, and a plumbing company. You can do the same thing as you are building your online business.

I began by setting up a blog for the handyman two years ago. I would write about the work he did and include pictures with many of the posts. I always included keywords in the post titles, which included the name of his city and the words handyman, patio cover, kitchen faucet repair, ceiling fans installed, or anything else that we was doing. Within a few months his phone was ringing and he had discontinued all other advertising. I had also started writing one or two articles each month for him, making sure to include these same keywords in the article titles.

By this time the insurance agent had found out what I was doing and asked me to do the same for him. We negotiated a monthly fee and I began writing. The most recent (more…)

Position Yourself As An Expert By Blogging About Your Passion

Friday, August 1st, 2008

Most of you know that I have more than a dozen blogs. No, I don’t post to each one every day. Yes, they are all on different topics in various niches. Three of them are for small businesses that I market for.

The biggest question I get is regarding where I come up with fresh ideas and new content for each blog. The simple answer is that I always have my eyes and ears open. I read other blogs and subscribe to many email newsletters. I listen to other people’s teleseminars. I read articles online that are related to my topics. The end result is that I will never run out of things to write. You can do the same thing and position yourself as an expert in the process. Here are some suggestions for better blogging:

  • Spend time researching your topic, both online and off.
  • Read everything you can on your topic.
  • Read other blogs and leave comments when you have something to add to the conversation.
  • Google your topic and visit the sites that come up. Don’t just visit the ones on page 1 and 2 of Google; go to page 10 and see what gems you can find.
  • Love your topic and be passionate about it. It will show in your writing.
  • Be thankful that you have the opportunity to express yourself freely on your blog. Just 5 years ago, blogs were in their infancy. Now they are among the most powerful and influential sources of information the world has ever known.

Sell Your eBook - How Affiliates Will Help You Sell More eBooks If You Take Care Of Them

Thursday, July 31st, 2008

If you are writing an eBook, you will be interested in selling as many of them as possible once the eBook is completed. You will find out that other people will probably sell more copies of your eBook than you will. The reason for this is that affiliate sales of your eBook will help you to make hundreds, or even thousands, of more sales if you understand how the process works. Once you learn how to find affiliate partners who will promote for you, your online business will take off like never before. These are the 5 T’s to remember when you want to sell your eBook through affiliate sales.

1.      Treat your affiliates well. They could just as easily be promoting someone else’s product, so respect them for choosing you and your eBook to promote to their list. Share their enthusiasm by making a connection with them and letting them know each time they make a sale of your eBook or other product.

2.      Train your affiliates so that they will have the best possible information when they are telling other people about what you have written. Hold a monthly teleseminar training call to answer their questions and show them what to do. Many people have never been an affiliate and are confused about the various aspects of using an affiliate link. Explain everything in detail, using visual examples, if possible.

3.      Tools – provide your affiliates with (more…)

Build Your List With Your Own Internet Radio Show

Monday, July 28th, 2008

Having your own segment on an internet radio show is a great way to let people know who you are and what you do. I have just started doing weekly shows on Blog Talk Radio, and I can tell you that it is a unique way to find new prospects and clients while building your list. If you think you may be interested in hosting your own show, here are some suggestions that will make it work for you.

  • Register for an account and spend some time getting to know how the system works. You don’t want to have to be looking for what you need when your segment is about to begin.
  • Commit to do a show each week at the same time for the next four weeks. Blog Talk Radio allows you to book for up to a month in advance. This will give people an opportunity to listen to what you have to say and get to know you. You want to develop a following and this is the best way to let people know what time your show will be so that they can plan ahead.
  • Use your keywords (more…)

Writing Sales Letters - Copywriting For The Web

Sunday, July 27th, 2008

I spent almost three hours this morning writing a sales letter for my new course - 6 Week Technology Training Course. I can remember when it would have taken me several days to do this type of copywriting. By signing up for this new course early, you will receive a copy of my Copywriting E-Course, the same one I use each time I write a new sales letter.

The headline continues to be the most important thing on your sales page, so check mine out and tell me what you think. Whether you are writing an eBook, writing articles, or writing posts for your blog, the headline will be the most important part. Use your keywords in your title and your writing will be much easier to find when people are searching for your topic.

Building Your List - Use Your Article And Blog Content To Improve Your Autoresponder Emails

Saturday, July 26th, 2008

Staying in regular contact with the people on your list is the way to build a good relationship with them and to continue building your list. If you are having difficulty coming up with good content to include in your autoresponder messages, look no further than your articles and blog posts. You have probably already written enough information in these two areas to keep your autoresponders and your list very happy for quite awhile. Here is how to repurpose your blog posts and articles into interesting and profitable email messages.

  • Set up an autoresponder series that will send out messages through email to your prospects. I like to send out an email message every three days or so, requiring me to have about twenty messages over the first 60 days someone is on my list.
  • I look over my articles and blog posts and print out the ones that provide good and useful content.
  • I then type my autoresponder messages, taking the best parts of each article or blog post.
  • For every third email message I include (more…)

Article Marketing - How Article Writing And Marketing Will Build Your Business

Monday, July 21st, 2008

I started writing articles and learning about article marketing at the beginning of 2007. At first I could not see the benefit of writing and submitting articles on a regular basis, but as my list began to grow and I became better known on the internet, I was finally a believer.

Article writing and marketing will help people find you, increasing your visibility and attracting the right people to your business. When someone has read one of your articles they understand more completely what it is that you can do for them, because you have positioned yourself as an expert in your field. As you continue to submit these articles to the article directories, they will be distributed to sites around the world. Someone who may never have heard of you will now be exposed to your information.

I have now written 725 articles, so my method (more…)

Starting An Online Business By Writing Your First eBook

Sunday, July 20th, 2008

If you have wanted to start a business on the internet but do not know where to begin, you have come to the right place. Writing an eBook is one way to get started with online writing and making money on the internet. Yet many people are reluctant to write an eBook and end up not having the successful online business that could change their lives in many ways. Here are some mistakes that people make that keep them from the success and profit they deserve.

  • Believing that just one eBook will give them the passive income they are looking for. The truth is that you must continue to write if you want to make money. You will also make more money by explaining your eBook than by simply selling it on the internet. You can do this with coaching, consulting, or holding teleseminars to get your knowledge and expertise out to others around the world.
  • Feeling that they are not an expert in (more…)

Membership Sites - Are You Looking For A Simple Way To get Started?

Saturday, July 19th, 2008

If you have been thinking about setting up a membership site, I encourage you to take a look at Extreme Member. One of my students, Charles Parker, mentioned it to me last week, so I had to investigate further. They are offering 200 trial memberships for $2.95 for the first 15 days. If you have any interest in this at all, give it a try. There is no further obligation, and if it will build your business it may be the fastest and easiest way to start.

Extreme Member is run by several people in Australia and appears to be a high quality platform that is reasonably priced. After seeing what others have gone through with their membership software I had been reluctant to jump in, but this appears to be a viable solution to all of the technology issues. Extreme Member has a user friendly dashboard and can be set up easily. Take a look and decide if this is something you want to try. Charter memberships are always the best way to go, beacuse the price will never be as low again when they open it up to new people in the future.

Ping Your Blog Even If Pingoat And Pingomatic Are Down

Thursday, July 17th, 2008

Pinging your blog after each post is important to your overall SEO (search engine optimization) strategy. Each time you ping your blog post, many blog directories are notified that you have some new, fresh content. They, in turn, send out their spiders to see what you have written and index your post.

Both Pingoat and Pingomatic have been down for a couple of weeks now. But they are not the only sites that offer this type of pinging service. Technorati offers the best service, mainly because they are the largest blog directory in the world. If you haven’t already, go over to Technorati and claim your blog. You will see your traffic to your blog increase dramatically when you do so, because more people from around the world will now be able to find you online through your keywords.

I have also started using Ping.in and KPing.com. These are two sites that offer a similar service to that offered by Pingoat and Pingomatic.

So keep on posting and pinging, and do no worry about which sites provide this service to you.

Mentee of the Month David C. Reynolds - You Can Book Your Hotels Cheaper

Sunday, July 13th, 2008

When I found out I was returning to Atlanta last month for an internet marketing program, less than 4 weeks after I had just been there for Big Seminar, I cringed at the thought of another expensive hotel room. Then I contacted David Reynolds, one of my mentees, and an expert in travel planning.

David was able to find me a hotel for more than $100 less than the one that had been recommended to me, and it was located right down the street from the other, more expensive one. It was a beautiful LaQuinta Inn, and they even served continental breakfast each morning. I also wanted to see some family that I have outside of Atlanta. They live in a very small town call Monroe, about an hour and a half east of Atlanta. They just don’t have any extra room, so when I have visited recently I have stayed at the only hotel in town. Well, it turns out there is a second hotel in Monroe, and the cost per night is much lower. David was able to locate it quickly, and you can imagine my relative’s surprise when I told them about it.

Overall, David’s expertise saved me more than three hundred dollars. Now I won’t think of paying full price ever again. He has written an eBook about this insider information, and it is finally available to everyone. I have three more trips planned before the end of 2008, and David’s information will save me more than a thousand dollars overall. Whether you are planning a trip for business or pleasure, don’t pay more than you need to. Many of you will be coming to Los Angeles in September for the Bridging Heart and Marketing Conference, so this could be the ideal time to pick up a copy of this eBook. Spend your money on other things, instead of giving it all to the hotels. I highly recommend his information.
