Article Writing And Marketing - Build Your List By Choosing An Article Directory That Promotes You Online

Wednesday, August 6th, 2008

Most of you know that I write lots of articles. Lots means that I just submitted my 741st article this morning. I write on a variety of topics, but most of my articles are about writing articles and eBooks, because this is what I am passionate about.

In the beginning I only submitted my articles to Ezine Articles. They are the largest directory, and I thought I would get enough exposure by just submitting to them. After a few months I began submitting to some of the other directories, and found them to not be very good in terms of getting my article circulated around the internet. I wrote a post a couple of months ago about article length. Now my articles are longer, about 400 to 450 words, and this is the reason why.

I have just started using the ArticleMarketerFree directory. This is the free version of their paid service. They require a 400 word minimum, and promise wider distrbution of your article than most any other directory. I encourage you to sign up for a free account, and I will let you know exactly what my experience is during this month. If the distribution is as good as they promise, I will most likely join the paid version to build my list more quickly and increase my income from my online business.

Finding Your Ideal Clients And Letting The Others Go

Tuesday, August 5th, 2008

This morning I went to the networking meeting held weekly in my city. I like to visit them about every 6 months or so to see what they are doing. It is not a group that would be a good fit for my online business, but I do offer them tips on how to promote their offline businesses. I am always thrilled when one of them has written an article or started a blog, but they are pretty set in their ways so this does not happen very often.

Today I was pleasantly surprised when one of the members got up to speak about her landscape design company. She now understands that not everyone with a backyard is her ideal client. Once she was able to focus on which people she wanted to work with, she was able to let everyone else go.

Article Writing And Marketing, Blogging, And Sending Press Releases To Make The Phone Ring

Monday, August 4th, 2008

One part of my online business involves marketing for three small businesses. I write articles, blog, and send press releases for a handyman, an insurance agent, and a plumbing company. You can do the same thing as you are building your online business.

I began by setting up a blog for the handyman two years ago. I would write about the work he did and include pictures with many of the posts. I always included keywords in the post titles, which included the name of his city and the words handyman, patio cover, kitchen faucet repair, ceiling fans installed, or anything else that we was doing. Within a few months his phone was ringing and he had discontinued all other advertising. I had also started writing one or two articles each month for him, making sure to include these same keywords in the article titles.

By this time the insurance agent had found out what I was doing and asked me to do the same for him. We negotiated a monthly fee and I began writing. The most recent (more…)

Getting Your Piece of the Affiliate Pie

Wednesday, July 30th, 2008

Whether you are new to working online or have been making money on the internet for a few years now, you should know that there is a lot of opportunity when it comes to affiliate marketing. When I was just starting out I didn’t want to promote other people’s eBooks and programs. I was very busy writing my own eBook and didn’t want to spend time on anything else. What I finally realized was that I could start making money within weeks by promoting other people’s products and services by becoming an affiliate for them.

First, I signed up for a free account over at Clickbank. Then I began to search for products that I could make money from by writing articles and blog posts. When I figured out how difficult it was to find anything on Clickbank, I signed up for a year over at Clickbank Prosearch. This service makes it simple to search for products using keywords, and then promote them through your affiliate link at Clickbank. I use the two sites simultaneously; ProSearch allows me to find the products and Clickbank sends me a check every two weeks.

The way that I actually promote these products is by (more…)

Article Marketing - How Article Writing And Marketing Will Build Your Business

Monday, July 21st, 2008

I started writing articles and learning about article marketing at the beginning of 2007. At first I could not see the benefit of writing and submitting articles on a regular basis, but as my list began to grow and I became better known on the internet, I was finally a believer.

Article writing and marketing will help people find you, increasing your visibility and attracting the right people to your business. When someone has read one of your articles they understand more completely what it is that you can do for them, because you have positioned yourself as an expert in your field. As you continue to submit these articles to the article directories, they will be distributed to sites around the world. Someone who may never have heard of you will now be exposed to your information.

I have now written 725 articles, so my method (more…)

Writing Your Articles And eBook - Set Up A Writing Schedule To Keep Yourself On Track

Wednesday, July 9th, 2008

Many people write when they are inspired. They post to their blog irregularly, write an article once in awhile, and continue to talk about their eBook getting finished. If you are serious about your writing, and want to build an online business, you will need to write on a more regular basis.

The best way is to make a schedule for yourself. Write it down so it becomes your goal for the week. Most writers are working from home, so setting a schedule can be a way to manage your time and get your writing finished. You can write two articles a week, and ecide which days you will spend time working on them. You may decide to blog on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays, and choose a theme for each of these posts, like reviewing a book on one of the posts, and talking about another blogger’s post on one of the other days. By setting this writing schedule in advance, you will accomplish more and become more organized in your business. Your writing will also improve over time, simply because you will be doing more of it.

As far as writing your eBook goes, you may want to register for a course, like the one I teach several times each year. It gives you a group of people to interact with, as well as lessons and deadlines to get your eBook written. You also learn the technology you will need to sell your eBook, such as copywriting and putting up your own web pages. No matter what path you choose, give your writing an opportunity to build a business for you on the internet.

Can Reading Magazines Give You Ideas For Your Articles And eBooks?

Monday, July 7th, 2008

When was the last time you sat down and enjoyed a magazine about a topic you write about? Writing articles to market yourself and your business can create a lead generating system for you for years to come. Once the article has circulated around the internet, people from around the world will be able to find you through the articles you have written in your niche. But how do you keep coming up with fresh new ideas for articles on your topic? I have just one word for you – magazines.

Yes, I look through magazines to come up with many good ideas for what to write about next. You can do this with the magazines you already subscribe to, read them at your local public library, or go online to sites that come from the magazine publishers. One of my favorite sites is at Magazines.com.

Sometimes I get ideas (more…)

How To Write Articles That Are Just The Right Length For Your Readers

Wednesday, July 2nd, 2008

Many people have asked me how long an article should be. I don’t like to tell them that it depends, but that is honestly the answer. The most important thing is to actually start writing and submitting your articles to the article directories, and worry about the length after you have written several articles and had them published online.

The submission guidelines are different with different article directories. I submit all of my articles to Ezine Articles first, because it is the largest directory and I know my articles will be widely read and picked up by other sites. Ezine Articles has a minimum word count of two hundred fifty words. My articles tend to be about three hundred words, unless I am writing about a topic that takes much longer to adequately discuss.

If you are writing articles that are close to one thousand words, you may want to (more…)

Article Marketing - How To Build Your Business By Writing Articles Regularly

Tuesday, July 1st, 2008

Are you writing articles as a way to market yourself and your business? I have been writing articles for almost a year and a half now. It has become such a habit that it feels like something is wrong when I don’t write an article for a day or two. In fact, I can now write and submit an article on one of my niche topics in about thirty minutes or so. But why do I continue to write more articles. You would think that there would be a point where you could just stop writing. Here are the reasons why I continue to write more articles, and probably will for years to come.

  • Every time I write a new article, I present my information in a slightly different way. Someone who is reading may get an insight that they could not before by reading any of my previous articles.
  • Each article is a powerful sales agent that never sleeps. It carries my message and my contact information around the planet, and never gets tired.
  • Writing articles makes all of my other writing (more…)

How To Make Money On The Internet - Get Ready To Start Writing

Saturday, June 21st, 2008

When I first began to build my online business, no one told me I would need to do so much writing. I just wanted to work from home and make more money than I could doing anything else, so I started writing.

I had always wanted to write, but had been told by various people over the years that my writing was not very good. So, for twenty years I did not write. I edited other people’s writing. I was a teacher and also worked in real estate. There were lots of papers and reports that needed to be edited and I was the one to do it.

Almost three years ago I began to pursue my online business, and that is when I found out how much writing was involved. These are the 5 types of writing I now do daily:

  •  Emails – it is important to make your subject line interesting, or people will not open the email to see what you have written

  • Blog posts – I have several blogs and always want to write posts that are informative and interesting to my readers
  • Articles – I have now written almost seven hundred articles during the past fifteen months. The articles must teach the reader something they want to know and make a point about the topic you are writing on.
  • eBooks and special reports – these are short books on a particular topic. I am now writing my fourth eBook, which will be sold online and bring passive income for years to come.
  • Sales pages – this is copywriting for the internet and is the way to sell what you have created, such as eBooks, special reports, audio files, and other products.

I now look forward to writing every day. If you enjoy writing, you will love working on the internet. Keep this in mind when you begin to work online. Writing will be the key to your success.

Write More Articles and An eBook By Repurposing Your Content with Teleseminars

Sunday, June 1st, 2008

We all speak much faster than we can ever write. In fact, you can use this method to write at the speed of sound! You can write articles, short reports (this has brought me lots of income), and even an eBook using teleseminars, once you understand the process. Many people just do not like to write, do not write well, or have difficulty getting their ideas down on paper. Recording your material and content using the teleseminar system makes it an entirely different process with equally dramatic results. You will be able to write more and get your message out to a greater number of people, simply by holding teleseminars. Here are 7 steps to take if you want to be successful in this process.

  • Decide in advance what your topic will be. This will give you the time you need to think about what message you want to get across to the people who hear your teleseminar or read your article.
  • Next, make a list of important points you want to talk about. You can write them down on an index card, or use whatever system will work best for you. Remember that no one will see you when you are on the telephone, so you can have a large piece of paper or even a white board to jog your memory about what you will say.
  • Schedule your teleseminar for a time that (more…)

How To Use Article Writing And Marketing To Build Your Business Quickly

Wednesday, May 28th, 2008

I started submitting my short articles to Ezine Articles in March of 2007. Within two or three months I had enough people on my list to start making money and build an online business. Before this time I had not had any direction to take to get started on the internet. To date, I have 667 articles published, with almost 111,000 page views. These numbers still seem incredible to me, and I lived through each day, so I know it can be done. To see where I am at when you read this post, just go to Articles by Connie. You can see that I write articles on a variety of topics. Some of the articles promote me and my sites, and others promote affiliate poducts and services that I endorse. I will tell you that each article will be worth about $100 to me over the course of about six months.

On my teleseminar today I will explain how to write these articles quickly so that you can get started with your own online business. Sign up in the box to the right and you will receive the call-in information. I will also make this call available so that you can listen to the replay at a later time.

Writing these articles has allowed me to position myself as somewhat of an expert, giving me increased credibility and visibility on the internet. It has also enabled me to write and sell my eBooks and make money from affiliate products and services. Be sure to listen to this teleseminar to get some new ideas.

Time Management For Writers - How To Write An eBook If You Have No Time To Write

Tuesday, May 20th, 2008

Not having enough time is the number one reason people give for not completing their eBook. I have talked about time management before on this blog, and even gave some suggestions for getting more articles and your eBook written on this post from the beginning of the year. Is time the reason your eBook is not finished?

There are several alternatives to writing your eBook if you truly do not have the time. Here are some that may make sense for your particular situation.

  • Hire a ghostwriter by going to Elance, Rentacoder, or Guru.com. Be specific about what you want to have written and sign an agreement for a work for hire business arrangement.
  • Use work already written that is in the public domain. This work is no longer copyrighted if it was written before a certain year. Contact me for good sources of public domain material.
  • Look for materials written where the copyright has expired and use this as content for your eBook.
  • Ask your audience their most burning question on your topic and hold a teleseminar to answer their questions. You can then have the teleseminar transcribed and repurposed into an eBook.

Think about these solutions to the problem of time management for writers, and see if any of them will work for you.

Double Your Profit On Your eBook

Tuesday, May 13th, 2008

You can more than double your profits on the eBook you write if you are willing to explain the content of your eBook to others. This is a way to repurpose your content and will enable you to build an entire online business based on the information you wrote about. There are several ways to do this.

First, write articles based on your eBook. These articles can be used to promote your eBook, as well as related products and services. You can also use article marketing to build a list of people (your traget audience) who will be interested in learning more about your topic.

Next, start a blog. This blog should be specific to your exact topic. For example, if your niche is real estate, narrow that down to residential or commercial, buyer’s or seller’s, and so on. This will ensure that you only attract people who are specifically searching for more information on what you know most about.

Finally, be willing to give teleseminars on your topic. You can use your articles or a chapter from your eBook as the basis of the outline for a teleseminar. The service I use is called Instant Teleseminar. There is a cost for this service, but it is the best one available. When you go through my link I will give you a consultation on how to set it up. I have built a five figure a month online business using this method.

What questions would you like me to address on this topic during one of my upcoming teleseminars?

Marketing Yourself And Your Online Business With Blogs

Monday, May 12th, 2008

Marketing yourself and your online business is a full time job. You might as well make it fun, and writing articles and blogging allows you to do that. Most of you know that I have now written more than 630 articles during the past 14 months, but you may not know that I have also been blogging since 2005.

I started out with Blogger, Google’s free service, but quickly realized that it was not good for professional business purposes. Free is not always better, and that is particularly true when it comes to blogging platforms.

I looked next at WordPress, but saw that the free version was no better than Blogger and the hosted version was just too technologically advanced for what I wanted to do. (This blog is done on WordPress, but it was installed by people who do it professionally. It can run into several hundred dollars or more to have a custom WordPress theme with plug-ins installed on your server.)

In the fall of 2005 I found the Blog Squad, Patsi Krakoff and Densie Wakeman. They introduced me to the Typepad blogging platform. Typepad can be set up in less than an hour and the cost is as low as $4.95 US per month, although I recommend the Plus package, which runs $8.95 US per month. It is much less if you pay by the year.

You can learn everything about maintaining your Typepad blog by reading Patsi and Denise’s book, Build A Better Blog. I keep it next to my computer and refer to it regularly when I want to make a change or add another feature to one of my blogs. I also belong to the Blog Squad’s Mentor Program. The price is right and the information is priceless. I must say that the Blog Squad have been instrumental to my success online.

Blogging And Article Marketing - How This Will Help You To Sell More eBooks

Saturday, May 3rd, 2008

If you are busy at work writing your eBook, the last thing you may want to take on is more writing. But, by blogging and writing articles, you will be able to leverage your time spent writing so that you can sell your eBook more easily once it is completed.

Determine the keywords that relate to your eBook. Then use these keywords in your blog post titles and the titles of your articles. This will help more people find you when they are searching online for your topic.

Article writing and marketing will also bring many new readers to your blog. You can let these readers know about your eBook when they visit your blog, and encourage them to sign up to receive email updates. This will build your list so that you can begin to market your information and products to them over time.

Over time people will be able to find you in the search engines as they type in the keywords you are using. This is all a part of SEO (search engine optimization) and means that you are using the words and phrases (keywords) that relate to the topic of your eBook in a way that makes your website and blog easier to find. The more people find you based on your keywords, the more likely they are to be interested in purchasing your eBook.

Article Writing And Marketing To Build Your Online Writing Empire

Friday, May 2nd, 2008

Article writing can be the foundation you lay as you go on to other types of online writing. If you are looking for a way to build a profitable online business, writing articles is a good place to start. There are many reasons why articles can build your business, and I will discuss 7 of them here.

  • Articles are short and to the point. In a three hundred word article you can make a strong case for your idea and leave the reader wanting to know more.
  • Each article you write becomes a sales agent for you forever. Twenty-four hours a day your article is available to someone in the world.
  • As ezines, websites, and blogs begin to pick up your articles, your ideas will spread around the globe in a viral marketing campaign. People who may never otherwise have found you will begin to know who you are and what you have to say.
  • If you are blogging, and (more…)
