How To Build An Online Business, Use Technology, Write Articles And eBooks, And Create Info Products To Build Your Online Empire

My name is Connie Ragen Green, and I teach people just like you how to build an online business and use the technology needed to get started in this fun and lucrative field. The first year was difficult for me online and I ended up spending about 10K and not making any money. I vowed that my students would not have to struggle like I did.

I have been making money online since 2006, and now make a comfortable 5 figure monthly income, primarily from my own programs and courses, information products, and affiliate marketing. I teach you how to write eBooks and articles, as well as how to set up your own blog, build webpages, use Twitter and Facebook, create info products and write your own web sales copy, which is copywriting for the internet.

Check out my webinar training on Using Amazon’s Kindle To Publish Your Writing or the webinar and study guide on Affiliate Marketing.

Building An Online Business – Three Business Models

Posted by Connie Ragen Green on Nov 20, 2009 in Internet Marketing

I’ve been writing and speaking a lot about creating info products, but there are actually three models you can choose from when you start building an online business. These are affiliate marketing, coaching and training, and creating information products. I’m going to discuss the third model, information product creation, because this is the one that allows you complete freedom in how you establish yourself online.

Most of us came online in the first place so that we could have the time and financial freedom to spend our life the way we choose. Creating your own products, and eventually a complete product line, is the fastest way to do this. Think of yourself as a problem solver, and ideas for new products will come to you easily.

When I decided to create my first product during 2006 I wasn’t sure what problems I could solve for anyone. I had been blogging and writing articles for about a year at that time, and believed I still didn’t have enough knowledge to help anyone else. During that time people kept asking me how to write articles and blog on a regular basis to start getting their name known on the internet. My list was less than a hundred names at that time, and social media was in its infancy, so many of the people I connected with were in forums.

I finally realized that I could create Read more…

Solve Problems For Your Prospects With Your Info Products

Posted by Connie Ragen Green on Nov 19, 2009 in Information Product Creation

Choosing a topic for your information product does not have to be a complicated process. Simply take a close look at the questions your target audience has been asking you. People will tell you what they are struggling with if you ask them, and then you can answer their questions and solve their problems with an info product you create. Let me give you some examples of this.

One of my students is a copywriter. She writes sales letters for herself and her clients, as well as emails and other persuasive writing. Many of her clients were complaining about their websites. They felt like they needed a complete makeover, but didn’t know anyone who was offering this service. My student created a course where she does a diagnostic review of a website and then offers extensive suggestions on how they can make changes that will help them to become more profitable. This course has become one of her most popular products. Take a look at the website makeover course here.

Another student is a former massage therapist who now offers information on carpal tunnel pain relief. Someone asked her about foot pain, and now she has created a product devoted exclusively to eliminating foot pain. This course will go into detail about why our feet hurt in the first place, and how to relieve this problem. I predict huge success for this info product.

As you can see, both products came about because people had questions that needed to be answered and problems that needed to be solved. Take a look at your niche and see what you can do to help your prospects to improve their situation. That will be the pot of gold at the end of the rainbow.

Creating An Information Product For Passive Income

Posted by Connie Ragen Green on Nov 18, 2009 in Information Product Creation

Creating your own information product will allow you to have the time and financial freedom to have a business on the internet. Whether you already have a product for sale online, or if this will be your first product, there has never been a better time to get started.

The first phase of this process involves choosing a niche for yourself. This may be related to your previous job or career, a situation that has affected your own life or that of a family member, or simply a hobby you enjoy. In any case, choose a topic so you can get started.

Remember that creating information products that sell on the internet means that you are solving a problem for someone. People search on Google and other sites to get answers to their questions and solutions to their problems. You must now do some research to find out what questions and problems people have that are related to your niche.

Now go over to Google’s free online keyword tool and Read more…

Repurpose Your Ebook Content To Build Your Online Empire

Posted by Connie Ragen Green on Nov 16, 2009 in Ebook Marketing, Repurposing, ebook profits

Ebooks are still an excellent way to establish yourself as an expert on your topic. This, in turn, will bring you more prospects and clients to help you build your online empire. The very best way you can get the most out of the knowledge and expertise you have included in your eBook is to repurpose your content into as many different forms as possible.

Just one eBook, about sixty to eighty pages in length, can be turned into hundreds of articles, blog posts, forum comments, tweets on Twitter, teleseminars, videos, short reports, podcasts, and more. The possibilities are endless, and repurposing your content can even be done by someone else besides you. Take just a minute and think about the different ways you can get your information into other people’s hands, using a variety of modalities.

You will first want to organize the information contained in your eBook by category. This may be the way you have your eBook’s chapters written already, or you may need to make a new list of categories that will make this repurposing faster and easier. This also will make it more likely that an assistant can do all of this for you.

Once you have chosen the categories that best describe your topic, pull excerpts from your writing and turn them into articles and blog posts. I like to keep my articles to around three hundred words in length. This is also what the article directories require in order for you to submit your content for publication on their sites. You can then use that same article as a Read more…

Online Marketing Success – It’s Not Just About Making Money

Posted by Connie Ragen Green on Nov 14, 2009 in Inner Game

At some point you make enough money to pay for everything you want and need, and then some. That happened to me this year, and I finally realized it was never just about making money. Sure, increasing your income with an online business is wonderful, but there is so much more you can do with your life.

Realize that if you learn how to build an online business the day will come when you are earning more than you ever have before. That took more than three years for me, but it will vary from person to person for a variety of reasons. We are still in the pioneer days on the internet, so if you are serious about creating products and services that will help people you will achieve success. Then you must decide what to do next.

Luckily for me, I began to volunteer and be involved with various charities at the same time I came online in 2005. It opened up a whole new world for me, one where I was able to help people in need, both in my own community and around the world. My focus and mission went from just wanting to make money at home on my computer to wanting to be a part of things that were much bigger than I could ever imagine.

Why are you building an online empire. Whose lives will be affected by what you are doing? Share your thoughts with me on this so we can join together as citizens of the world.

Will You Join Me In Creating Your Info Product This Month?

Posted by Connie Ragen Green on Nov 11, 2009 in Information Product Creation

Thanks to all for your congratulations on my winning the Better Your Best contest In Las Vegas for my online marketing skills. Winning twenty-five thousand dollars for doing what I love means so much to me. The biggest question I’ve had since then was from people wanting to know how they can learn what I am doing online to be so successful, and to do the same themselves. The answer may surprise you.

The easiest and most inexpensive way to learn from me is to join me for Incubator training at just $47 a month.

This is Jeanette Cates’ membership site where you can have 24/7 access to everything you need to build your business. Every Tuesday evening I train more than fifty people on all areas of technology and more, and I’d love to include you.

For the next 7 weeks I am teaching my Info Product Creation Workshop to those who are a part of this group. I’d love to have you join us.

This is a course I last taught for $247. I thought it made more sense for me to teach it using all of Jeanette’s resources in her Incubator. This gives you added value, as well as access to me through the end of 2009, which is just 50 days away!

See if this is for you. You will have your own information product created and ready to sell before the end of this year. That could change things for you, couldn’t it? It sure did for me, back when I created my first info product at the end of 2006. I look forward to hearing from you.

Blogging To Build Your Business – Help Your Prospects To Find You More Easily

Posted by Connie Ragen Green on Nov 8, 2009 in Blogging

Blogging is the foundation of your online business. It is truly the first and best opportunity you have to tell the world more about you and what you have to offer to others. Here are some ways that you can use your blog to build a business and change the way you are perceived in the world of business.

Just start writing. Many people think they must introduce themselves in a blog post or tell readers what they will be blogging about. I believe that is a mistake. If you just start writing about your topic you will get a feel for what you want to share. This is called finding your voice and is imperative if you are going to be successful on the internet.

Once you have blogged for a month or so, make a plan of what types of information you are going to post. You may want to answer reader’s questions, write book reviews, or have some other feature that will be unique to your blog. You can download a report on business blogging here.

Post as frequently as possible. Some popular bloggers post Read more…

Time Management For Marketers – Plan What You Want To Accomplish Online

Posted by Connie Ragen Green on Nov 6, 2009 in Time Management

Managing your time becomes crucial when you work for yourself from home. The hours can just slip away from you, and the next thing you know your business will be in trouble. It is best to make a schedule and stick to it to plan what you intend to accomplish on a regular basis.

First, make a list of all of the tasks you do in the course of your business. For me, those include creating new products and courses, writing and submitting articles, blogging, holding webinars and teleseminars, and coaching the students in my mentor program. My goal is to work about twenty to twenty-five hours each week, so it is imperative that I have a time management plan in place.

Next, set some goals in each area. You know what you have accomplished in the past, so use that as your starting point to Read more…

On My Way To Big Seminar 13 in Las Vegas

Posted by Connie Ragen Green on Nov 4, 2009 in Internet Marketing

I’m getting ready to leave for the airport right now to fly to Las vegas for almost a week. I first attended this event a year and a half ago, and I am reminded of how much my life and my online business have changed since then.

It was all I could do to buy a plane ticket and a hotel room at Big Seminar 11 in Atlanta. At that time I was making money on the internet, but I did not have a business. Those are two very different things. At the end of that weekend I signed up to be a part of Armand Morin’s training, and everything began to change for me.

Armand’s group, AM2, teaches you how to build an online business. There is something called the 100 point list that guides you step by step through the process of setting up a website with a product for sale. I thought I knew how to do this before I joined, but I was wrong.

I only had 3 products for sale back then; now I have almost 20. My life has changed dramatically. I’m able to help my family, including my 92 year old mother. I travel more, and even went to China last year. And I am active in groups such as Rotary, and international service organization.

If I can do this, so can you. That is the message I really want to share. I will be posting updates live from Big Seminar all week long, so make sure you read them and take action. This internet marketing training is like no other in the world, and I mean that in the most sincere way.

Using Twitter and Facebook To Connect With Your Prospects More Easily

Posted by Connie Ragen Green on Nov 2, 2009 in Social Networking/Social Media

Social media sites, such as Twitter and Facebook, allow you to connect with other people with a greater presence and in less time than doing it in person. I’m not suggesting that attending live events – these are so important – is not necessary, but connecting online truly leverages your time and efforts.

On Facebook, tell people about what you are doing online. Join groups where your prospects are already spending time. Those groups are the very best place to find new friends. Create your own group, using your keywords in the title.

Twitter is great for connecting with people in just a few seconds. Share what you are doing two or three times each day, but relate it to what you do online. When someone asks you a question or makes a comment about something you know about, answer them quickly and let them know you want to help. This will make a huge difference over a period of time.

I use a site called FriendFeed to tie all of my social media together. There are other sites that do the same thing, so find one that is easy to use so your time will get out to as many new people as possible.

Social media and social networking will save you lots of time and money, and will definitely increase your bottom line. Continue to network with others in person and at live events and seminars, but do not overlook the power of social networking and how it can help you in a variety of ways. And be sure to follow me on Twitter, if you aren’t already, and then be sure to let me know what you are doing so I can share it with my followers.

Live From Big Seminar – I’m Taking You With Me!

Posted by Connie Ragen Green on Nov 1, 2009 in Internet Marketing

On Wednesday I leave for Las Vegas to attend Big Seminar. This is the largest, oldest, and most highly respected internet marketing event on the planet, and it will be my third time to attend. It was begun in 2002 by my mentor, Armand Morin. During the time I am there I will be bringing you live updates on who is speaking, what I am learning, and how this all relates to you and your online business.

This year I have attended 7 seminars. That may sound like a lot, but when you work from home it is important to get out and meet others who are also working on the internet. In fact, once I learned a few secrets about seminars I was able to turn them into profitable events that increased my income substantially. You can do the same thing.

Next year I will be at even more live events because my business is growing. I am having such fun with what I am doing it doesn’t really seem like work at all. I am able to have a lifestyle I truly love, and I’m surrounded by a group of intelligent, loving, and supportive people who are truly an amazing part of my life. Instead of just making enough money to pay the bills each month, I now have a business. There is a huge difference between these two things, and I finally understand it, thanks to Armand and his training.

Stay tuned for live updates from Big Seminar!

Never, Never, Never Give Up!

Posted by Connie Ragen Green on Oct 28, 2009 in Goal Setting, Inner Game

This is a well known quote from Sir Winston Churchill, and has been one of my favorites since coming online. On a webinar earlier this week we talked about how difficult it can be to start making money online. This is a very different world than what any of us has known, and it can be extremely frustrating trying to put all of the pieces together.

I always say that anyone in their right mind would have given up during the first year, but I was persistent and it has paid off well. I am now able to work about 25 hours each week, travel whenever and wherever I like, and meet people from around the world. The creative side of me has also emerged, allowing me to develop courses and programs that will help my students to build their own online empire.

If you are wondering why you are blogging, writing articles, and twittering, remember that it will all come together with the help of a Mentor to guide you. Never give up and you will achieve the success you want and deserve.

Writer’s Block or Blogger’s Block – Tips To Keep On Writing

Posted by Connie Ragen Green on Oct 25, 2009 in Blogging

Darren Rowse, founder of the ProBlogger blog since 2002, blogged today about blogger’s block. I have written about writer’s block in the past, so this post was of interest to me. I know my students need to have tips on writing every day as well. It turns out that being able to write quickly will make a huge difference in the level of success you achieve online.

The first thing I recommend is to keep a spiral notebook with you at all times. I have one in my purse, another in my car, and yet another that stays in the suitcase I travel with. I want to capture all of my ideas in a place where I can retrieve them later on and turn them into blog posts, articles, and other repurposed formats.

Another excellent way to get ideas is to read. I read everal blogs each day, as well as other people’s articles, non-fiction books, and magazines. As a teacher I knew that the students who were the best writers were also avid readers, so this crosses over into the adult world of business as well. Find blogs you enjoy and subscribeto them to receive the latest posts.

Finally, I recommend Read more…

Making Money Online – The First Dollar Is The Hardest

Posted by Connie Ragen Green on Oct 24, 2009 in Affiliates

I am one of many online mentors who help people to get started online. People want to make money, but making that first sale seems to be the most difficult task to accomplish. I believe that the answer is through affiliate marketing. There are so many reasons for you to do this.

When you are just getting started with an online business you have no products or services of your own. It makes sense to promote other people’s products and services while you are getting started. Here are even more reasons to do this during your first year online.

Affiliate marketing will hep you to:

  • Increase your income by promoting appropriate affiliate products to your list
  • Learn exactly what experienced marketers do and model it in your own business
  • Start part-time while you are still learning how to make money online
  • Create relationships with others that will lead to future Joint Ventures

The first money I made online was in the spring of 2006. I earned $21.60 from the sale of an affiliate product on dog training. Once I made that sale I knew that anything was possible and it encouraged me to keep working to build my online business. You can do the same thing.

Take Action and Keep Moving To Build Your Online Business

Recently I overheard someone saying they couldn’t do anything with their online business because they were waiting for their webmaster to set up something for them. To that I say ‘Poppycock!’ You must keep moving, no matter what anyone else is doing.

While your webmaster sets up a page or a site for you, continue to blog, write articles, interact with others on Twitter and Facebook, and hold teleseminars. Your blog should already have an optin form, so direct people to sign up there while other things are being put into place.

Last week the water was cut off in my neighborhood. People were frantic, going door to door, talking about everything they couldn’t do until the water came back on. I simply came back to my computer and wrote another article, and then took my dogs for a walk – all things that I could accomplish without running water. This is just something to consider, when you find yourself waiting for someone to do a specific task or something to happen that is outside of your control.

Making Money Online – 10 Steps on How To Begin

Posted by Connie Ragen Green on Oct 22, 2009 in Internet Marketing

Getting started online is the toughest part, I believe. There is so much to learn and so many people giving you their input. Remember that you must sell something in order to make money, and I still teach that affiliate marketing is the very fastest and best way to do this. This enables you to make some money while you are spending time figuring out exactly what you will offer others with your own products and services. Here is my list of the 10 steps to take to start building your online business.

  • Choose a niche to work in. You don’t have to stay in this area forever, but commit to building it up for 6 full months so you can make some money.
  • Do some keyword research to see which phrases people use when they are searching for your topic.
  • Start a blog on your niche topic. Give excellent information in each post so readers will find value in what you have to say.
  • Set up an opt in page to start building a list. Offer a free report or checklist to those who sign up.
  • Find some affiliate products to promote. These must make sense to your market. If your niche is organization for your business, don’t promote products on how to hold teleseminars. You get the picture.
  • Write some articles on your topic to start finding qualified leads. The articles will bring you readers from around the world.
  • Get involved with Twitter and Facebook. Interact with others and get the word out about what you do. We tend to be secluded when we work from our computers, so use social networking to fill that void and meet new people.
  • Hold teleseminars where you can talk about your topic. Again, give people your very best information.
  • Be persistent. Don’t give up. Most people quit in the first three months, so don’t be like most people.
  • Create your own products and services. I have put this at the end of the list because that is where I believe it belongs. By doing everything else on this list, you will then know exactly what your market wants from you.

I hope this is helpful. Take it day by day and move forward with your business. Building an online business is definitely worthwhile, so learn as much as you can while you are taking action.

Starting An Online Business – Mentors Make It Easier

Posted by Connie Ragen Green on Oct 21, 2009 in Goal Setting, Internet Marketing

Starting an online business can be exciting, but it can also be frustrating at times. No matter what topics or niche you are planning on specializing in, there will be so much to learn and the learning curve will most likely be steep. The best way to achieve the success you are looking for is to work with an online mentor or coach.

I have been mentoring people who want to build an online business since 2007. This a process I enjoy very much. I believe you need to be very patient with people to do this right. It’s also fun to explain how to use technology, article marketing, blogs, and social networking over and over again.

Students who do the best and achieve the most success are the ones who take the initiative to learn exactly what they need to learn on a regular basis. They ask specific questions and then follow through with action. They listen to suggestions on how to improve what they are doing, and move along rather nicely in their online business. They develop a strategy and stick with it over time.

There are also students who begin learning online, most with excellent intentions, but then become discouraged or do not take action. Many times they will Read more…
